Ozinga Driver Bruce Mitchell Wins First Place at Indiana Ready Mix Concrete Association’s Mixer Skills Competition

May 9, 2022 (Mokena, IL)—Ozinga ready mix driver Bruce Mitchell earned first place at the Indiana Ready Mix Concrete Association’s (IRMCA) Mixer Skills Competition on April 30, 2022.

The competition tests drivers on driving course and ability challenges as well as a truck inspection and written exam. Winners from the competition are automatically advanced to the National Ready Mix Concrete Association’s (NRMCA) National Mixer Driver Championship.

Mitchell, who has been with Ozinga since 2002 and currently drives out of their Cedar Lake, IN yard, is no stranger to these competitions. He took second place at the IRMCA competition in 2021; first place at the IRMCA competition and second place at the NRMCA competition in 2019; third place at the IRMCA competition in 2018; and third place in the IRMCA competition and fifth place at the NRMCA competition in 2015.

“We are extremely proud of Bruce for his achievement in the competition this year,” said Joe Sanders, Executive Vice President of Ozinga’s ready mix operation in Indiana. “Bruce is a very skilled driver who takes pride in his work, and his continuous recognition by the IRMCA and NRMCA is a testament to that.”

Mitchell’s first place win automatically advances him to the NRMCA National Mixer Driver Championship, which will take place in Colorado in October.
