Ozinga Joins US EPA SmartWay® Transport Partnership

June 3, 2022 (Mokena, IL)— Ozinga announced that it joined the SmartWay® Transport Partnership, an innovative collaboration between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the construction industry that provides a framework to assess the environmental and energy efficiency of freight supply chains.

By joining SmartWay Transport Partnership, Ozinga demonstrates its strong environmental leadership and corporate responsibility by contributing to the Partnership’s savings of 336 million barrels of oil, $44.8 billion on fuel costs, 143 million metric tons of CO2, 2.7 million short tons of NOx and 112,000 short tons of PM. This is equivalent to eliminating annual energy use in more than 21 million homes.

The partnership with SmartWay® has only reinforced Ozinga’s commitment to sustainability. Last month, the 94-year-old building materials company was honored as ENERGY STAR®Partner of the Year for the third consecutive time for its ongoing energy efficiency improvements. Ozinga has also partnered with Meta and the University of Illinois on a low-carbon project for Meta’s data center, and Ozinga’s state-of-the-art research and development laboratory is constantly working on new sustainable concrete options.
