Ozinga’s Pink Truck Supports American Cancer Society
Throughout the month of October, Ozinga’s pink-and-white-striped ready mix truck supported the American Cancer Society through monetary donations and attending their Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks.
Proceeds from Ozinga’s pink-and-white truck from the month of October were donated to ACS. The truck was also on display at five of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks throughout the Midwest, including Wheaton, IL; Mishawaka, IN; Libertyville, IL; Milwaukee, WI; and Crown Point, IN.
“The pink truck was a focal point of our event, and every participant went home with a picture in front or even in the driver seat of the truck,” said a representative from the MSABC of Milwaukee. “Thank you for joining us in the fight!”
Ozinga coworkers also had the opportunity to fundraise on their own to help support the cause. In total, 40 coworkers and their family members walked in the events and together raised more than $28,000.
“Ozinga’s purpose is to make a positive impact on individuals, their families and the community for generations,” said Justin Ozinga, President. “Our pink truck serves as a reminder to everyone about the affect breast cancer has on those in our communities, and using it to help give back is just one way we can continue to make a positive impact.”
Ozinga painted one of its concrete mixers pink and white back in May 2022. The idea to transform the truck came from Alivia Ozinga, who is daughter to Justin Ozinga.
The Ozinga family has been personally affected by breast cancer. Justin Ozinga’s grandmother passed away from the disease, and co-owner Jeff Ozinga’s mother passed away from it as well.
The pink ready mix truck, which is a 2015 Kenworth W900B, runs on compressed natural gas and was given truck number 0001 as a testament to the 1 in 8 individuals who are diagnosed with breast cancer. It currently operates in the company’s Chicago region.
Ozinga’s traditional red-and-white-striped concrete mixers can be found throughout Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin and South Florida.
