Ozinga Acquires Elston Materials’ Volumetric Concrete Assets, Expanding On-Demand Mixing Capabilities in Chicago Market
CHICAGO — Ozinga has acquired the volumetric concrete assets of Elston Materials, expanding its services by providing on-demand concrete mixing to better serve contractors across the Chicago market with specialized project needs.
The acquisition strengthens Ozinga’s ability to support Chicago-area projects that benefit from on-site, on-demand concrete production, including small and mid-size pours, repair and maintenance work, utility and municipal projects and construction in hard-to-access locations.
Volumetric concrete mixers produce concrete at the job site, allowing operators to adjust mix designs in real time and deliver only the quantity needed. This approach reduces material waste, eliminates short-load inefficiencies and improves productivity on projects where volumes are uncertain, or specifications change throughout the day.
Large, continuous pours will continue to be best served by Ozinga’s traditional ready-mix fleet.
“This acquisition allows us to better serve customers who require latex-modified concrete and high-strength, rapid-setting patches for highways, bridges and airport runways,” said Paul Ozinga, Ozinga president. “By bringing together the talents of our teams and listening closely to our customers, we can continue innovating in ways that improve service, efficiency and outcomes on the job site.”
Volumetric mixing is commonly used for residential and commercial flatwork, roadway and infrastructure repairs, sewer and water projects, soil stabilization, pervious concrete applications, precast and masonry work, and specialty mixes such as fiber-reinforced or decorative concrete. The technology is particularly valuable in markets like Chicago, where jobsite constraints, traffic, scheduling and variable quantities demand flexibility.
Ozinga will integrate the volumetric assets into its existing operations, maintaining its focus on safety, quality control and customer service.
