Ozinga’s Mike Conquest Honored with Hall of Fame Award from Indiana Ready Mix Concrete Association
February 22, 2022 (Portage, IN)—Mike Conquest of Ozinga was recently inducted into the Indiana Ready Mix Concrete Association’s Hall of Fame at their Winter Short Course meeting. This award is given annually to one individual who has unselfishly given their time and energy to the association.
Mike has been a part of the ready mix industry since he was 25 years old. His family owned a ready mix company for a few years and his father, Cecil “Pic” Conquest, served as the IRMCA’s president from 1986-87.
For the last decade, Mike’s purpose and focus with the IRMCA has been on safety and the environment. He has been a continuous member with the association’s Safety & Environmental committee and, as a committee member, has worked with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) on their new concrete washout proposals.
“It was honestly an easy decision to induct Mike into the Hall of Fame,” said Chad Montgomery, IRMCA Promotions Manager. “He has always been involved in our safety and environmental group, and he is a big part of its success over the years. He’s always willing to lend a hand and has been a big part in our annual mixer competition and annual short course.”
Mike joined Ozinga in 1994 as a dispatcher and eventually moved into a safety/environmental role—a role he’s held for most of his career. Today, Mike’s concentration is helping the 94-year-old construction materials company on their contract negotiations in the Indiana market.
“I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this award than Mike,” said Joe Sanders, Executive Vice President of Ozinga’s ready mix operation in Indiana. “His level of knowledge in the industry coupled with his willingness to always step in and help are truly exemplary.”
