Two Ozinga Drivers Place in Top 5 at IRMCA Mixer Driver Rodeo
Two Ozinga ready mix drivers placed in the top five at the Indiana Ready Mix Concrete Association’s annual Mixer Driver Competition on August 26. Kelley Jenkins from the company’s South Bend yard and Jeremy Nutting from the company’s Wheatfield yard took 4th and 5th place respectively.
“We are extremely proud of the commitment and determination our drivers put into this competition,” said Joe Sanders, Executive Vice President of Ozinga’s Indiana ready mix operations. “Driving a ready mix truck is not an easy task, and our drivers showed their knowledge and precision through this event and made everyone at Ozinga proud.”
The Indiana Mixer Driver Competition is the qualifying event for the annual National Mixer Driver Championship competition held by the National Ready Mix Concrete Association. The event is held annually and is a comprehensive competition including a 50-question written exam, a truck inspection assessment, and a 10-station challenge course. This year’s event had 18 total competitors.
Both Jenkins and Nutting will move on to compete at the NRMCA Mixer Driver Competition this coming October in Nashville, TN.
Two other Ozinga drivers, Mitch Ridder and Nick Devaney, also competed in the event. While they did not place high enough to move on to the next round, both drivers showed off their incredible skills and impressed the competition.
