Ozinga Honored as 2024 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year, Second Year in a Row

Ozinga is proud to announce that it has received the 2024 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Sustained Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy.

“We are very honored to receive the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award for Energy Management for the second year,” said Lum Sadiku, Ozinga’s Energy and Sustainability Manager. “Sustainability is one of our top initiatives, and receiving this award from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy is recognition of all our staff’s concentrated efforts.”

Ozinga’s key accomplishments that contributed to this honor include:

  • Advancing energy management coordination across the company by instituting monthly energy meetings that include representation from a diverse set of Ozinga employees and ensure the sharing of lessons learned.
  • Completing energy assessments at three separate sites to identify opportunities for energy-saving improvements. The selected sites encompass most of Ozinga’s operational activities, allowing for opportunities identified to be replicated at multiple sites.
  • Achieving an energy intensity reduction of 0.7% despite a decrease in production. Since 2018, Ozinga has reduced its energy intensity by more than 30%.
  • Supporting the Annual ENERGY STAR Industrial Partner Meeting by sharing energy management expertise with attendees.

“President Biden’s Investing in America agenda creates unprecedented opportunity to build a clean energy economy, and private sector partners through programs like ENERGY STAR are leading the way,” said EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan. “Such efforts are essential to building a clean energy future that helps to create a healthy environment for everyone, generates jobs and saves money for consumers and businesses.”

Each year, the ENERGY STAR program honors a select group of businesses and organizations that have made outstanding contributions in the transition to a clean energy economy. ENERGY STAR award winners lead their industries in producing, selling, and adopting energy-efficient products, homes, buildings, services, and strategies. These efforts are essential to fighting the climate crisis, protecting public health, and creating a clean energy future for everyone.

Since 1992, ENERGY STAR has helped American families and businesses save five trillion kilowatt-hours of electricity and avoid more than $500 billion in energy costs, achieving more than four billion metric tons of greenhouse gas reductions. Winners are selected from a network of thousands of ENERGY STAR partners.
