Ozinga’s Energy Sustainability Manager Presents at Green Energy Kosovo

As part of this mission, our Director of Energy Sustainability, Lum Sadiku, recently had the honor of presenting in his home country of Kosovo via Teams. The event, organized by Green Energy Kosovo, highlighted the expertise of Dijamant Kabashi and Shend Boshnjaku and the transformative innovations they’re developing in Kosovo’s construction sector.
Sustainability in Kosovo
Kosovo faces a range of environmental challenges that pose significant threats to public health and the ecosystem. High levels of air pollution stemming from fossil fuel combustion and industrial activities result in frequent smog episodes and increased concentrations of PM2.5 particles.
Harmful substances like asbestos, lead, and mercury are released through industrial processes, intensifying environmental concerns. Outdated waste management practices and the unsustainable use of natural resources further contribute to these issues.
Moreover, the legal framework for addressing environmental problems is often considered inadequate, and enforcement of regulations remains inconsistent. Tackling these pressing environmental challenges requires a concerted and comprehensive effort to enhance regulations, upgrade technologies, raise public awareness, and promote sustainable development practices.
In 2022, Kosovo implemented targets for green energy in 2030. Per the Energy Community Ministerial Council’s climate and energy targets, renewables must comprise 32% of total energy consumption, and Kosovo must reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 16.3% compared to 2016 levels. Organizations like Green Energy Kosovo are investing in green energy and sustainable construction practices to make these targets a reality.

Green Energy Kosovo was thrilled to have Lum Sadiku join Dijamant Kabashi and Shend Boshnjaku to share his insights on how energy efficiency initiatives are shaping a more environmentally conscious future. Sadiku underscored the crucial role that each individual plays in this transformative journey, drawing on his experiences in the United States.
Green Energy Kosovo’s recent innovations show significant promise for the future. An initial sample showed a significant reduction in plastic waste and a 6% increase in thermal performance compared to the reference sample while maintaining affordability and ease of assembly.
